The upper cooling fan on the back of the computer has stopped working. I am sure that I can replace it if I knew what to replace it with. Does anyone know what fan I should purchase and where? Thank you!

It's not so much that I solved the problem, as that it solved itself when I took the PSU apart. After unscrewing the multiple sets of screws and finally removing the fan (though not unplugging it), I decided that I should give it another test before attempting to disconnect the wires (not sure how I would have gone about this, as they seemed to be glued to the others at the base). I carefully reconnected the power and turned on the computer and, magically, the fan worked again. Dust? Loose wire? I don't know. But, I put it all back together, crossed my fingers, and turned it on again and it still worked. It still works today. It may stop again tomorrow, but for now it is spinning!

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
Are you referring to the rear exhaust fan?
HP likes to use 92 mm chassis fans. Measure the fan and get an AF replacement fan.
Check the fan header connection on the MB. You may need to get a three pin DC fan if the MB fan header is a three pin connector.
You can use a PWM fan if the MB fan header is a four pin connector.
Any retail fan that is sized correctly and has the correct MB header pin count should work.

You have been given good information by @Grzwacz . The only thing that I will add is, make certain that when the fan is installed that the airflow direction is correct. The air flows towards the braces on most fans.

As noted, there are 2 fans at the rear of this unit.
The setup guide shows the top fan as a mounted cooling fan. That would be the comment that I gave @Grzwacz below. The Service manual shows a different scenerio, swapping the location of the PSU.
HP has had some blunders in the manuals, so I will ask you to verify the PSU location.
Your correct, the rear exhaust fan is listed here, the exact fan, 92mm x 25mm at 4800 RPM 4 pin with actual part number.

Ouch is right.
I had expected 3800 RPM, but HP PartSurfer listed the part number and specs. at 4800 RPM.

Thank you everyone for your help! As it turns out, it is the fan in the power unit. I was able to get into the power unit with little problem and figured out what I need. I nevertheless appreciate all of the assistance. You guys are great!

Now that you determined it was the PSU that is mounted in the top of the case, what did you find out was the problem and how did you solve it. Curious me.
