Hi, I would like to replace the Hard Disk of my All-In-One 24-xa0001nl (motherboard 84EE1100, BIOS F.28, RAM 8 GByte) with a Samsung SSD 980 (1 Tbyte, M.2 2280, NVME PCIExpress 3). Is it possible? I think to mount the SSD on an external box and clone the original hard-disk using Macrium Reflect. After I will remove the hard-disk and I will install the SSD. Is it correct? Thank you for help

hi
One M.2 socket 3, 2280 type for SSD
Difficult to guarantee the functioning of this one
Hp just gives some information, never the exact model
for example :
128 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD |
256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD
for actual installation, it may work

Hi,
i just did this but i have a slot on the motherboard.. i had an unexpected suprise I bought the drive from a seller on ebay and noticed it was new, hp and they had a lot to sell. i installed, oh yeah its a optane 32gb with a on board 512gb card m.2280. installed , was playing around with it and noticed it had the same partitions as my stock drive.. shut down , went into bios and boot to that drive, it auto started a windows 10 instal and it had the sutup files to get the drivers needed for this hp ..then when done went to my microsoft account and got my system registered and updated to the pro i purchased. been a few days with that other drive disabled... it is noticeable!!! part number on the ad in ebay is HBRPEKNX0202AH L48338-002. they have 7 left the storename is Protech365, not advertised as a hp part but it had the HP PN on it so i got it. hope this is not against policy here... anyways good luck. not sure about that external idea. i would get a pcie card has to be faster, esp. if you have a x4 or larger available. i got a x1 and it is fast enough, its for a spare drive anyways.

Hi Snirk, thank you for the reply. Your words are good news for me. My motherboard has the M.2 slot. Unfortunately Protech365 has a shipment cost very high (I live in Italy) so I will search for another store. Last question: now your pc is working with optane SSD (drive C:) and the old hard-disk (drive D:)? Thank you again and Merry Christmas and happy new year!

Sure, you are right, that's why I thought to clone the old HDD (the method always used to replace HDD). I'm an "old" man and I have no experience with this new SSD, new BIOS etc. so the main question is: my PC BIOS will see the Samsung SSD 1Tbyte? it is possible to set the SSD as drive C: in order to boot Windows10? These are my problems

I can not guarantee the operation of this or that model
If you succeed in cloning it, it will be the main drive, you will have to remove the original drive
I did it but not with the same model of computer, and it was with a sata SSD
after cloning hdd to ssd i removed hdd then restarted with no problem
but it may not work
The best, will be once installed, if you do not manage to create a new thread
Otherwise, you can try a brand new windows installation, it can also be interesting
