Paul,
Please don't hate me for asking one more question. Each time you reply with great information, some of which I am unclear on, of course it triggers another question. 😉 That sounds like a good deal ........
With the Display Port to DVI cable... does this mean that I can plug one end into the Display port on my computer, (as it does not have a DVI port) and the other end into the monitor that DOES have the DVI port? I have noticed a BIG difference in the quality of the graphics now, and all my icons and text and screen display, everything looks so bland & dull, very different. There is some windows functionality that seems to be gone as well, but I don't know if that is due to the loss of the graphics card or something else. This is an older refurbished computer I bought after messing up my last HP PC and who knows what else may have happened at the same time the graphics card quit functioning? I almost want to put it back in to see if it wasn't just a faulty connection due to the vigorous jiggling around that the computer went through. I will try it just before I put the new eBay graphics card in.
I like the idea of trying the (PC) Display port to (Monitor) DVI port cable as well as the card to see what difference they make visually on my screen.
(I think I have answered my own question!)
Now that my puter is up and running and I can relax, I realize that is has actually been fun learning new things from you. You've made this Community Forum like 'one stop shopping' in terms of problem resolution, links to where I could find what I need and links to the replacement procedure. So cool.
Thanks again, Paul. You're the best!

You're very welcome.
Yes, you plug the Display port end of the cable into the PC's Display Port input and the DVI end of the cable into your monitor.
You may need to install the Intel graphics driver since you removed the video card if the display image is wonky.
This package contains the driver for the Intel Graphics in the supported desktop models and operating systems.

Thank you, again, Paul!! I came back today, Feb 4th, to see if I purchased the right Display to DVI-D cable when I saw this new and thoughtful message from you. I downloaded the Intel Graphics Driver and installed it. I am thinking about just hooking up the cable I bought first, without installing the graphics card you suggested. I am putting off pulling all the furniture out again and pulling out all the cords and opening up my computer when everything is running fairly well. Makes me nervous. The cable is a different story as I can just leave everything as is and just add the cable to desktop and monitor. I just discovered that even though I have 3 older monitors here, only one of them has a DVI-D port. That was lucky.
I have another question, if you have time.(she said sheepishly) Should I find the driver for the new graphics card and install it? I planned on just installing the card until now, and started thinking that I might need to do that since you suggested a driver for the already existing Intel graphics card. I feel like I am taking advantage of you.
You are VERY appreciated, I only wish there was something I could do for you.
Anyway, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Hi:
You can't install the driver for the AMD graphics card until after you install the video card you bought.
This is the one you would need when you get around to it. Download and install the W7 64 bit driver from the list.

That is good to know, that I don't want to try to install the Graphics Card Driver until after I install it!!
I wonder, is there something I need to install before or after I hook up the Display Port to DVI-D Cable?
Thank you, AGAIN!!!

The page for the graphics card driver says: AMD software and drivers are designed to work best for up-to-date operating systems. Please be sure to update your operating system before installing drivers.
I can't up-date my Win 7 OS can I? I know they won't send any more updates, and I was pretty sure I didn't trust their updates anyway, but how important do you think it is that I need to update my OS. Is there a way to do it manually? Or, do I need to have the agonizing conversation with myself about seriously considering an upgrade to my operating system? Probably should upgrade this whole antiquated computer, but......

Thank you!
I almost want to try and think of another question just so I can learn more stuff from you!
I'll be good.
I am going to just leave my computer alone for awhile. I have spent way too much time on it over the last 24 hours.
Have a great afternoon Paul!
