Hello!

I want to upgrade my HP Slimline desktop purchased on 2018 with a SSD drive (same size, 1 TB) cloning the old HHD on the new SSD.

Actually I would like to buy a Crucial MX500 or BX500, but I read many threads about issues on BIOS upgrading similar system in that way.

So I should only buy a Kingston A400 to be sure that it works? And, by the way, is it sure that it works?

Hi:

If you want to install a SATA SSD in your PC, there is no way anyone can tell you with 100% certainty that any brand SATA SSD is going to work.

If you have read posts discussions referencing installing certain brand SSDs in that model series are not working, then it would make sense to avoid using that brand.

I have read that Samsung SATA SSD's have issues with some HP desktop PC's.

Why that is, I do not know.

Another model that I would look into over the Kingston A400 is the Western Digital Blue SA510 2.5" SATA SSD series because it has faster read/write speeds than the Kingston A400.

WD Blue SA510, 1 TB, 2.5" SATA SSD, fino a 560 MB/s, Include Acronis True Image per Western Digital,...

I have installed the above model SSD in many HP and Dell PC's and notebooks and never had an issue with any of them.

I even installed one in an Xbox S gaming device that originally came with a 2.5" 320 GB hard drive.

Thank you for your reply.

Crucial is definitely my favorite SSD brand (last year I put a MX500 1 TB in a Dell desktop much older than this HP and it works perfectly: it seemed to have a brand new pc), but it seems to have same problems of Samsung SSD on these HP model series.

Actually I read lots of bad reviews about that WD Digital Blue SA510 SSD series (in terms of SSD, Western Digital seems not to be any longer at its best like it was in the past for HDD).

Of course Kingston A400 was not exactly my first choice too...

By the way, I also didn't find any HP official service manual for this Slimline 260-A129NL.

Does it exist anywhere?

You're very welcome.

I couldn't find a service manual for the model series either, but I did find this HP service teardown video for the model series.

Thank you again!

So it's pretty clear that HP doesn't help to make any upgrades on A-260 series.

They should take note of this, if they want to go on selling PC in Europe:

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Personally, I would never buy a consumer class desktop or notebook PC from any manufacturer.

I have owned nothing but HP and Dell business class PC's over the last 25 years.

Easy to work on, good service manuals, quality components, etc.

They may cost a little more, but it is well worth it.
