I’m reaching out to kindly ask for guidance regarding an issue with an HP monitor I recently purchased.

Today, I bought a used HP monitor from a local seller through Facebook Marketplace. The seller mentioned that the monitor was working normally and that there were no display issues when it was last used. I inspected it visually before pickup, and the monitor was carefully transported home (handled gently, wrapped, and secured with a seatbelt during a one-hour drive).

After setting it up at home, I noticed an LCD display issue appearing at one corner of the screen. I’m unsure when or how this issue occurred. I’m not experienced with monitor hardware and don’t know whether LCD panels are sensitive to movement or if this could be an internal issue that was not visible earlier.

I understand that the warranty has expired (about 7 months past), and I completely respect HP’s policies. I am a big fan of HP products and have always trusted the brand for quality and reliability, which is why I wanted to reach out and ask for advice.

If possible, I would really appreciate any diagnostic guidance, repair options (paid or otherwise), or recommendations you may have.

Hi @Ttwo95,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. What is the exact HP monitor model?
  2. Can you describe the issue in the corner of the screen?
    • Is it a dark/bright patch, discoloration, lines, or a “bleeding” effect?
  3. Does the issue appear:
    • Immediately when the monitor powers on?
    • In the on-screen menu (OSD)?
    • Only after connecting it to a computer?
  4. Have you tested the monitor with another cable or another device?
  5. Does the affected area change if you gently adjust the screen angle?

If you’re able to share a photo of the screen issue, that would also be very helpful.

Troubleshooting steps you can try

Please try the following steps to rule out external or software-related causes:

1. Check the on-screen display (OSD)

  • Disconnect all video cables
  • Open the monitor’s built-in menu
If the issue appears in the OSD, it usually indicates a panel-related (hardware) issue.

2. Try different inputs and cables

  • Test HDMI / DisplayPort (if available)
  • Use a different cable
  • Connect the monitor to another PC or laptop

3. Perform a power reset

  • Turn off the monitor
  • Unplug it from power and from the computer
  • Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds
  • Plug everything back in and test again

4. Check for pressure damage

LCD panels can be sensitive to pressure. Even gentle contact during handling or transport can sometimes cause internal stress that isn’t immediately visible.
Please avoid pressing on the affected corner, as that can worsen the issue.

I hope this helps.
