I have an HP gaming desktop which constantly resets when I attempt to play any newer games. It does not show an error when restarting, it simply does. I will stay on constantly when just using a browser or other applications. It downloads well.
I opened it up as recommended by my brother, and I confirmed that the fans were working each place except where the power supply is. My brother said this is almost definitely the fan not cooling the power input, but he was remote. I could not ever feel or hear the motor inside where the cable plugs in.
Firstly, is there any reason I should not replace the power supply?
Secondly, I am not sure how to purchase the proper supply as I am having difficulty finding the specs for the supply. If anyone has tips to find one that will definitely be the correct model, please let me know.
Thanks

There is a utility titled WhoCrashed?.
See the Crash Analysis Tools section. Use the personal free version of WhoCrashed?.

The safe enthusiast utility uses the Windows memory minidumps to analyze the reason for crashes. You may need to setup your Windows OS to make crash dumps. See the WhoCrashed? FAQ and documentation.

I can't see from your description any reason to replace the PSU just yet,
I am deducing from what you have stated so far that this happens only when trying to play games.
That indicates a driver issue.
