Can I retask or remap the line-in input on the back of an Z4 G4 workstation to a microphone input?

I found an easy solution to this issue.  First, if you're on win10 you will need to install the realtek audio driver 2.81, not 2.82, to get access to the audio manager.  You can find the correct driver at https://www.techspot.com/drivers/driver/file/information/18084/ or other driver sites.

Once installed, open the realtek audio manager via the control panel and then look for the blue blue line-in analog plug on the right-hand side of the dialog box.  Right-clicking on the blue plug will give you a popup: click on "Connector retasking" and then switch to the microphone by clicking on the Mic In checkbox.  That's all there is to it.
