HP ENVY All-in-One - 32-a0055

I cannot get the Nvidia graphics drivers to install automatically for my Rtx 2080 Super.  I have tried every NVIDIA download from HP for my Computer as well as the alternate version AI000* by HP setup and extracting them manually. I have tried reseating the physical graphics card,  installing through the Geforce app as well trying to install them directly from the Nvidia website.  I have tried uninstalling the device, I have tried a clean install of both Windows 10 and Windows 11,  I have tried using DDU, I have tried uninstalling onboard graphics as well as disabling them in bios.  The only way I can seem to get them to install is by manually doing it through device manager>searchlocally>havedisk>nvhdc, it doesnt install automatically after that either. I believe this is due to a PCI hardware ID mismatch but I am no expert.  I came to this conclusion by searching through the NVHDC.INF file inside the NVIDIA display drivers folders.  According to the file its looking for: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1E93&SUBSYS_86C7103C and mine is: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1E93&SUBSYS_86C6103C.  When looking at the 86C7 and 86C6 I noticed the 86C6 coincides with the HP BIOS baseboard product ID of my motherboard.  I don't know if that has something to with it or not.   I have even dumped the vBIOS of the GPU to ensure it is a RTX 2080. Also the Nvidia 472.08 installer is just to show what error occurs everytime I try to install it.  On another sidenote it does install the NVIDIA USB C controller.  I am out of options does anyone have any suggestionshprtxerror.PNGhprtxerror1.PNGhprtxerror2.PNGhprtxerror3.PNGhprtxerror4.PNGhprtxerror5.PNG

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try modifying the setup information file and see if that works.

You have two options...

You have the first ID listed in the file which you can change to:

%NVIDIA_DEV.1E90.86C6.103C% = Section055, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1E90&SUBSYS_86C6103C

%NVIDIA_DEV.1E93.86C6.103C% = Section055, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1E93&SUBSYS_86C6103C

Or you can change the second one:

%NVIDIA_DEV.1E93.86C7.103C% = Section055, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1E93&SUBSYS_86C7103C

%NVIDIA_DEV.1E93.86C6.103C% = Section055, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1E93&SUBSYS_86C6103C

[Manufacturer]
%NVIDIA_A% = NVIDIA_Devices,NTamd64.10.0...17098

[NVIDIA_Devices.NTamd64.10.0...17098]
%NVIDIA_DEV.1E90.86C6.103C% = Section055, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1E90&SUBSYS_86C6103C
%NVIDIA_DEV.1E93.86C7.103C% = Section055, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1E93&SUBSYS_86C7103C
%NVIDIA_DEV.1F11.86C6.103C% = Section055, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1F11&SUBSYS_86C6103C
%NVIDIA_DEV.1F14.86C6.103C% = Section055, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1F14&SUBSYS_86C6103C
%NVIDIA_DEV.1F14.86C7.103C% = Section055, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1F14&SUBSYS_86C7103C
%NVIDIA_DEV.1F91.86C6.103C% = Section061, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1F91&SUBSYS_86C6103C
%NVIDIA_DEV.1F91.86C7.103C% = Section061, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1F91&SUBSYS_86C7103C

Then at the bottom of the file:

NVIDIA_DEV.1E90.86C6.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design"

NVIDIA_DEV.1E93.86C6.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design"

or

NVIDIA_DEV.1E93.86C7.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super with Max-Q Design"

NVIDIA_DEV.1E93.86C6.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super with Max-Q Design"

[Strings]
DiskID1 = "NVIDIA Windows 10 (64 bit) Driver Library Installation Disk 1"
FLG_ADDREG_KEYONLY = 0x00000010
NVIDIA = "NVIDIA"
NVIDIA_A = "NVIDIA"
NVIDIA_DEV.1E90.86C6.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design"
NVIDIA_DEV.1E93.86C7.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super with Max-Q Design"
NVIDIA_DEV.1F11.86C6.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060"
NVIDIA_DEV.1F14.86C6.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design"
NVIDIA_DEV.1F14.86C7.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 with Max-Q Design"
NVIDIA_DEV.1F91.86C6.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650"
NVIDIA_DEV.1F91.86C7.103C = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650"

Save the file and try running the driver again.

Other than that, you may have to resort to using the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive to factory reset the PC after you back up your files and hope and pray that works.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility.   You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.

You can download the tool from the Microsoft Store:

Thank you for that information. I have tried that solution before but it notifies me that the driver is not digitally signed or something along those lines.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that modifying the setup information file didn't work.
