Hi was a tad 😡 my power supply got a tiny tan now it won’t power on.I was refreshing my processors thermal paste an omg it was so dry it pretty much was pinned to the metal. So after I refreshed it with a new slab of paste, an from me not properly rescrewing in my power supply my power supply’s motherboard got a pimple. Now it won’t turn on.
so my question is my power box is 180watts with two new ram sticks custom I need to know will my unit be ok with a power supply that is 310w?

Hi @GLAAlone

It sounds like your PC has been through quite the ordeal! Let’s address your power supply concerns and ensure your HP Desktop PC M01-F1000a gets the juice it needs.
Yes, upgrading from a 180W PSU to a 310W one will work fine for your desktop, provided the new PSU matches certain compatibility requirements.
Here’s why:
Higher Wattage is Safe: Your computer will only draw the power it needs, so the extra wattage won’t harm your system. In fact, it’s a smart move if you’ve added custom RAM or plan future upgrades.
Stability and Future-Proofing: A 310W PSU gives more overhead for additional components or demanding tasks.
