TG01-2170m

Hello HP community,

I own a TG01-2170m with a Ryzen 3 5300G and a 1660 Super, but am looking to upgrade the CPU. It has been said that an Erica6 motherboard can only be upgraded to a Ryzen 7 5700G. Would a 5700X work? If not, can someone provide an explanation as to why?

Thank you.

Welcome to the HP Forum.

The Erica6 MB is limited to 65 watt (socket AM4) TDP CPUs. The 5700X is a 65 watt (socket AM4) TDP CPU.

The 5700X would be good to go if HP would update the BIOS microcode to see the 5700X.

It is unusual to see HP add BIOS support for additional CPUs on consumer PCs.

The latest BIOS update, I could find, for your PC is Here. The "fixes" section lists an AGESA update  and security enhancements..
