I have not gotten this computer to allow me access to the SD drive.  I have had the computer for months now and I am the recognised 'Administrator', but when I put the SD card in the drive slot, say, from my camera to download photos, it says I am not authorised.  I tried the SD card from the camera in my car and the same thing happens.  The computer recognises the card, but won't let me have access to it, even though I am the Administrator.  The SD cards are not locked.  Anyone have any idea of how to fix this once and for all???  Last HP support tech guy, told me to contact the maker of the SD card ... what?  The SD card works fine in the latop, but not this desktop.

YAY, YAY, YAY ... I contacted HP this morning and after all the faffing about over months and months, the Technician decided to check the 'Client Security' Authorisations installed by HP ... and ... that was the problem!!!  They had not allowed me to use the SD reader.  One click of the switch and things finally work!!!  Big thank you to Sumithra of HP for all her assistance.

I am assuming you have the latest BIOS installed and updates to Windows 10....then I would uninstall the Media Card driver...and reinstall it...also make sure its ENABLED in BIOS...and that you can see it in the Device Manager..

I checked my Windows and it says it is up to date.  I am not techi at all, but I don't see anything in the device manager labelled 'Media Card Driver' ... is that the problem then?  I see loads of USB ports, but nothing to do with a card driver ... so I will check with HP tomorrow to see if that is the problem ... maybe I did not specify it in my system specification, so they did not provide one.  I guess I figured that since the slot was there, the card software would be there ... silly me.  Thank you so much for your response.  Kind regards, Magpie
