My Pavilion All-in-one 24-r050na has 128GB SSD Drive (Drive C) which is continually running up against the end stop for storage space. I have to work hard to keep enough free space for the system to work efficiently. I thus need to upgrade the SSD to something like 512GB, maybe to 1TB. I would like to know which SSD Drive(s) is/are compatible with my PC, including the required form factor, speed, etc. Also relevant advice on how to install would be very helpful.
I look forward to receiving some help with this matter.
Regards.

Hi:
Please see this discussion...
Solved: Replace SSD - HP Support Community - 8405461
You can upgrade your storage to a NVMe SSD which provide faster read/write speeds than SATA SSDs have.
I recommend either of these two drives which you can find on Amazon.UK:
Samsung 980 (not 980 Pro).
Western Digital Blue SN570.
They come in 500 GB and 1 TB sizes.
I cannot find a service manual for your model series, but there is this service video for a model that appears to look exactly like yours, so hopefully it will be of help.

Hi,
Just to say thank you for the information provided. I will be following up in the next few days. I had already viewed the YouTube Video which was very informative and well produced. The model is similar so I need to open up mine to see the location and form factor of the drive. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hi again,
Having opened up my PC (the YouTube Video was very useful) I find the SSD fitted is a SanDisk 128GB X400 M.2 SATA High Speed SSD with a M.2 2280 form factor, see:
You recommended using a SSD with NVMe interface, but surely this is not compatible with my SATA interface? Please advise.

Hi:
According to the forum discussion link I posted; your PC's motherboard also supports NVMe SSD's.
That person installed one and confirmed that it worked.
If you want to play it safe and get the same type M.2 SATA drive that came with your PC, you can do that as well.

Hi,
For info I have confirmed that the Motherboard supports PCI-Express 3.0 (via CPU-Z) and the SSD M2 connector has keyway configured to accept both single and double notch form factors. Taken together with the positive experience of others it looks like I should be ok to use your recommended NVMe SSDs.
A learning experience for me.
Many thanks,

Hello,
Just to complete the story for the benefit of all readers.
I fitted the Western Digital Blue SN570 1TB as suggested by Paul, having cloned the original SSD Drive using the Macrium Reflect app (as recommended by the Michael The Computer Guy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA7gsRlA4Kc&t=227s)).
Initially it would not boot so I used the Macrium Recovery Drive I had created earlier (luck I did - a lesson for all) and undertook a boot repair, as listed. This worked and completed a repair so it is now working well.
Yes it is working much faster, as Paul said it would, and I have acres of memory to spare.
So many thanks to Paul for his support and I hope this might be of help to others.
Regards,
hamecj.
