In looking at the Z1 G8 Tower Desktop setup and the possibilities of adding the drives internally so the desktop can use them - considering the Z1 G8 Tower Desktop is new and these other drives are not so much, I would consider using an USB external enclosure that has its own power supply to run the extra drive and it will allow the information to be accessed and not violate the warranty of the newer desktop and also protect the existing hardware.

Something on the order of this should allow full access and still be fast enough.

This one would allow you to use the data from the old drive.  Do not plan on booting from this old drive.

What a brilliant idea this suits my every need I have ordered one as we speak from Amazon...thanks for the link, I certainly wont be booting up from this old drive ....Many Thanks TheOldMan

PS...I'll let you know the out come when it arrives although just noticed it's got a USA plug on it (two pin type) hopefully I can find a 12v in my music studio somewhere I think so anyway but I'll get over it some how

Can I ask you I don't know if you will know but I'n think you probably do but.....

I notice on my new computer  HP Z1 G8 Tower Workstation with i9...that whilst using this windows edge (that HP computer came with)..... is really slow to my old 10yr old HP computer although I was on chrome on the old computer but it was much quicker as I have to keep waiting for it to turn from page to page...I have 200 speed and with Virgin media so I dont know why it's slow

Ok, I do see that you are in the UK, so possibly they offer an a different adapter if it comes from the UK store.

I would be appreciative to see how this works out for you and the external case.

On the other item about slow web browser.  I do not use Edge for anything unless forced to.  My primary web Browser is FireFox or Chrome.

I have found that Windows will promote Edge but I do not use it.  The specs for the HP Z1 G8 Tower Workstation should be good, especially for web browsing.  What I have found with Windows 10 - the computer has to be on for an extended period before it gets done doing whatever to be up-to-date.  Just turning it on and doing a small amount or work and shutting done will not give it time to do all the tasks it wants to do.  Keeping it on for a couple of hours every day and it will work much better.  IMHO
