Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My expansion slots are, 2 M.2; 1 PCIe x16; 1 PCIe x1.  I was thinking I could put in the 2nd NVMe M.2 SSD in the other M.2 slot.  But as I seen inside the computer I seen that the first M.2 SSD was in one slot.  Now I don't see any other slots open for a 2nd drive.  I am guessing the Wi-Fi is taking the 2nd slot, but not sure due to it looking a little smaller then the slot that the M.2 SSD is in.  I know I can get an adapter and put the 2nd SSD in the 1 PCIe x 1 slot that is still open.  I did read that if I do that it would make it a little slower.  So my question is.  What would be faster, the NVMe SSD in the PCIe x 1 slot or a SATA 2.5" SSD?  Thank you for reading this and helping out.  Main reason is some people say putting games on a SSD drive and not the HDD makes it a little faster.  Not sure that is true yet.  I can see they will load faster but not sure on if that would make the game faster while playing it.  Any input to this would be very welcome.  Thank you and have a nice day.

If you look up the PCIe x 1 slot speed, I would not bother with the adapter and just use a SATA SSD.

From this site

https://digichasers.com/what-are-pcie-x1-slots-used-for/

the PCIe x1 slots have replaced the standard PCI ports. They are about 1 inch (or 26mm) long. The data transfer speed to/ from the motherboard is up to 250 MBps in each direction at once.

If that info is correct, you would need a PCIe x 4 slot to get a better speed out of the adapter.

To TheOldMan, Thank you very much.  Yes you gave me what I was looking for in speed wise.  I was not sure on how much it will slow it down, but from that link you gave me shows it will slow it down way to much.  Thank you, you saved me time, and money on something that just would not work.  I agree with the SATA SSD.  Then I will still have the OS on its own drive.  Games on the SATA SSD and I will have the 1TB hdd for something later down the road.  I am so glad that I did ask about this before I started putting time and money into it.  Thank you for that info.
