I want to upgrade my SATA HDD to an SSD before the HDD dies. The maze of SSDs available is somewhat overwhelming. I know I can use a 2.5" SATA SSD but do I have any other options? I believe I have PCI slots available but I don't think my motherboard has m.2 slots available.  I am hoping to get some guidance.  I don't do gaming nor do I need a lot of speed. 1TB should be plenty of capacity. I am more looking for reliability.  Thanks for your help.

Hi Praveen196,   I just had my the HDD in my older PC upgraded to a Kingston SSD (480GB). It used the same SATA interconnect as the HDD did. You are correct there are no interconnect options on my motherboards for the newer style SSD cards like m.2. So trying to use a m.2 SSD would not be possible.

@dbsoccer Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to upgrade the SSD.

I have checked the motherboard specification.

There is no port to connect the SSD.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to upgrade to SSD.
