Hello,

            I am running out of space on my m.2 SSD and i have been looking into upgrading it, i have a hp tampa 2 motherboard, 8437 motherboard, and i dont know how to put in a new SSD, I will be upgrading it to a 500gb SATA SSD i just cant find a SATA port i can plug it into, i did see it but its in use and connected to the top of my pc, so my question is how can i upgrade my SSD in a OMEN By Hp 880-110na with a tampa 2 motherboard.

Welcome back to the forum.

Your problem is this system shipped with a 128 GB NVME SSD and a 1 TB HDD. The motherboard has two occupied SATA connectors. You can't add a SATA SSD unless you buy a SATA PCIe adapter. I don't know if you want to go this way to solve the problem.

 

You could bite the bullet and buy a 512 GB or 1 TB NVME SSD. Then you can copy the current operating system image from the 128 GB NVME device to the new, larger NVME device.

 

Doing this will fix the problem.  But you can't store large amounts of data and programs on the smaller storage device. Your 128 GB NVME drive has programs and data that should have been stored on the larger 1 TB HDD.

 

I can give you more details on how to do this if you are interested in spending the money to get this done.
