Hi all.
I am trying to install an ssd drive but I find that the two sata connections are busy (HDD and ODD unit). My question is if I can connect the new SSD unit instead of the ODD unit, since the sata motherboard connection has other color (Blue HDD1 - White ODD1)
Would it be advisable to connect the HDD drive instead of ODD1 and the new SSD drive in HDD1?

Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
Motherboard manufactures used to use SATA port color coding to designate data throughput.
A blue SATA port was Sata III, a white SATA port could be SATA II.
HP does not identify if the white SATA port is running at SATAII. Optical disk drives only need SATA II.
I would use the blue SATA port for the SSD. Or you can test (HDD-SSD) data throughput on the white SATA port using CrystalDiskMark (Link).

According to the chipset reference on page 18, all SATA ports are SATA 6gb/sec. The Lubin motherboard presents a unique situation, having only 2 SATA data headers. I f you are not using the PCIE slot, you could use this card for the new SSD.

Hi Wb2001,
Didn"t want to commit on this because HP sometimes modifies chipset characteristics.
I have seen some HP consumer motherboards that only provide M.2 socket PCIe 2.0x4 data transfers instead of the native PCIe 3.0x4 data transfer rates provided by the chipset.
Have also seen primary graphics card PCIe x16 slots wired to only provide x8 data rates.
