I would like to upgrade the existing 128GB SSD which is a SanDisk SD8SMAT - 128G -1006.
I would like to upgrade to 256GB.
SanDisk do have a 256GB which is M.2 and is SD8SNAT-256G.
I have read that my 128GB one has TRIM, but the 256GB one hasn't, unless there has been an update since 2015. Is this important?
Also, the existing SSD is 2242, whereas the 256GB is 2280. Will it fit in my computer, or will it need to be 2242?
Lastly, can I go to another brand if the SanDisk 256GB does not have TRIM?

@thistime , welcome back to the forum.
Here is an article to help you understand TRIM and why it is so important! If the M.2 doesn't have TRIM, don't buy it. HP has their motherboards made to their specifications. Normally, they have several different lengths in the M.2 socket. However, since your motherboard is smaller, it may only have the 2242 length. The 2280 will definitely not fit. I can't find this information anywhere on HP's website. You can check to see what is available by opening the case.
