OMEN by HP 875-1000 Obelisk Desktop PC (5MG70AV)

I have an OMNI Obelisk 875-0xxx with a 256GB Toshiba SSD (KBG30ZMV256G).  I want to upgrade this to a Samsung 980 Pro M.2 NVMe 2TB SSD drive.  Is this new drive compatible with my hardware?

You're very welcome.

Yes, as far as the PCIe generation, decent 3,500/3,000 MBPS read/write specs and the considerably lower price, the Crucial P3 would be a better option for you unless you planned on transferring the Samsung 980 Pro to a newer PC in the future that has a PCIe Gen 4 slot.

There is also the WD Blue SN570 which has similar specs:

You should be able to.

The Crucial SSD report for your PC indicates that they sell NVMe SSDs up to 4 TB.

Note that the Samsung 980 Pro is a PCIe 4 x 4 NVMe SSD, and your PC's M.2 SSD slot is PCIe Gen 3.0, so the Samsung drive will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds.

Wow!  Fast reply is much appreciated.  So, it appears that the Crucial P3 2TB PCIe M.2 2280 SSD would be a better fit?
