Recently bought an HP Prodesk 400 G7 and installed an additional Crucial 240Gb SSD to expand storage.
My problem is that the new SSD is not shown on Windows Explorer or even in the Device Manager.
I had a look at the BIOS configuration but couldn't find anything there as well.
Does anyone can say what I may be missing to be able to use my SSD?
Thanks
Roberto

- Hold down the Windows "start" key on your keyboard.
- Type one "r".
- Release both keys.
- Into the window that opens, type: diskmgmt.msc
- Press Enter to open a new window.
Does the SSD show up as an "uninitialized" device?

Hi RobertoMuller
Itsmyname is right. When you buy a new hard drive it haven't been initialized yet. Opening Disk Manager should prompt you to initialized it. Then you'll be able to format it which operation will give it a letter and you'll be then able to use it through My PC.

Hi Itsmyname, thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately the SSD doesn't show there.
I haven't mention before, but this SSD was installed (and working) in another desktop before.
I just took it from the old machine and installed on my new HP Prodesk.
Any ideas? Thanks

1. Try a different SATA cable.
2. Can you return the SSD to the old computer, to see if it is detected on that system, during BIOS SETUP?
3. Can you temporarily connect the SSD to some other computer, to see if it can be detected?
