HP 500-336
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, my questions just needs verification.

I have an HP 500-336 with the Memphis S motherboard.

So is HP support correct?

1.  The M-2 SATA storage option will function SLOWER than if I were to add a standard SSD drive via a serial ata cable.

2.  Will the Memphis motherboard bios boot to the M-2 SATA storage drive?

Thanks for considering my question.

Doug

Its specs

It is a very old machine which does NOT have M.2 slot for storage. What are you trying to do ? You can replace it 1TB HDD sung 2.5" SATA SSD and you need an adapter to conver 2.5" SSD to 3.5" slot such as

@nascarfrk -- it is my impression that most M.2 SATA sticks are faster than most SSD devices.

As @banhien wrote, your PC dates from June 2014 -- very old -- with no on-board M.2 support.

You could add-in a PCIe-to-M.2 adapter, and connect an M.2 stick to the adapter, but I think that it would be easier to upgrade your 7200 RPM 1 TB disk-drive to a SSD.

Given that your computer is over 7 years old, it would be good to proactively replace the disk-drive, before it fails. You probably should replace worn-out automobile tires after 7+ years.

Windows 10 will be supported until October 2025.  So, a new computer, running Windows 11, should be considered, in the near future, rather than spending any money on your current computer.
