Good day to yall,
I have a question about upgrading my SSD. My laptop is OMEN 15-en0000 Laptop PC IDS Base Model, and I cannot find any information if my laptop supports 1tb ssd. It already came in with internal 250GB SSD, which means there is one more free slot for SSD. Is "Samsung 980 PRO SSD 1TB PCle 4.0 NVMe Gen 4 Gaming M.2 Internal Solid State Drive" will it suppport it?
Please, If I have missed any important spec information let me know as I will be happy to provide it.
Thank you,
O

Hi:
Your notebook will support a PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD, but since the M.2 SSD slot is only PCIe Gen 3, the Gen 4 SSD will only run as fast as the Gen 3 slot will allow.
The service manual for your notebook indicates that two AMD processors were offered.
Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)
Since notebook processors are integral parts of the motherboard, you can look up the PCI express version by looking up the processor specs on the applicable AMD or Intel websites.
Looking at the processor specs for the faster AMD processor offered in the model series, you can see that the PCI Express revision is 3.0 under the Connectivity section.
If you don't want to spend the extra money on the Samsung 980 Pro for no benefit, you can opt for the Samsung 980 1 TB instead.

Hello there, thank you for your reply and apologies for such a late reply and not specifying my processor and graphics card specs.
So first off I see that it can support PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD on this laptop that has AMD Ryzen™ 7 4800H, but mine is AMD Ryzen 5 4600H, Will it still support? Once again, Thank you.
Best regards,
O

You're very welcome.
Your notebook will support NVMe Gen 4 SSD's but since the slot is only PCIe Gen 3, the PCIe Gen 4 SSD will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds.
