HI there
I have replaced my HDD with an SSD and when I run the Samsung software it say that I should use AHCI instead of IDE.
I have found a place (Storage Options) in bios where I can chose between IDE, RAID and AHCI.
Is that the right place ?
Can I change from IDE to AHCI without damaging my system installation in other words will my PC work after I have changed without reinstalling ?
Disks are:
Samsung 250GB SSD 850 EVO
Western Digital Green 6TB
Thanks in advance

Greetings,
Please download and run the Microsoft fix it found here.
Follow the steps.
Reboot and change the BIOS settings to AHCI before booting to Windows 7.
Cheers!

Hi:
Can you reinstall W7?
If so, go into the BIOS and in the storage options menu, there should be a choice to change the BIOS drive controller to AHCI or RAID as well as IDE.
Change the setting to AHCI, save the setting there and again when you exit.
Then reinstall W7.

Hi Paul
There is absolutely no need to reinstall the OS.
Just run the fix or set the registry your self,
then reboot and F10 into bios and set it to AHCI mode, save bios change and boot.
Windows will probably reboot once more after installing the AHCI driver.
Every things work well here, now.
P.s. Win 8 and 10 are different, from what I have seen on the web.
Thanks again
Best regards
