HP Z8 G4 IDS Base Model Workstation
Ubuntu LTS

Hi,

I am using HP Z8 G4 with one CPU and 1 TB SATA HDD installed.

I am trying to install another drive, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD with Eira PCIe card. I tried putting the card in all vacant PCIe slots designated to CPU0. The machine isn't even able to detect the SSD, not even in BIOS. I don't even want to boot from it, just the detection seems impossible so far.

I have tried all the solutions available online. BIOS version is latest, PCIe slots are enabled.

The SSD and adapter card are absolutely fine, work prefectly in any other machine. The PCIe ports of Z8 G4 are fine too.

Any clue, what may be going wrong with it?

Where is the idea to get NVMe SSD drive ? It only support SATA drives.

Regards.

In the same document they have mentioned HP Z Turbo Drive SSD Modules which are NVMe.

In this  doc also you can see that it supports NVMe drives.

Both SATA and NVMe are listed. I can't see only SATA mentioned anywhere.

You will need the Eira card that supports bifurcation (ER3050) or another card that has this function.
