Would a sandisk x400 256gb m.2 ssd fit in a pavilion s5-1554?

No. 

There is no M.2 slot on a Joshua motherboard for an M.2 SSD to plug into.

If you want an SSD for your desktop PC, you need to look at SATA 2.5" hard disks as a viable upgrade option.
