Hi:
Since there is no ability to set the drive controller to RAID or AHCI, I would not invest in a SSD for that model.
You are better off buying an off-lease dc7800 SFF with the money, and with the latest BIOS update you have 3 drive controller settings to choose from...AHCI, RAID and IDE.
Then put a SSD in that PC.

Hi:
You can update the BIOS to v.2.04 but you can't do it in Windows since you are running W10.
The BIOS update will not add any drive controller settings.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000/sp35568.exe
Run the above file. An info page will open.
Read the info under the F10 Setup BIOS Flashing section.
Get a USB flash drive.
Format it with the FAT32 file system.
Click on the blue View Contents of DOS Flash Folder link at the bottom of that section.
Copy the file contents of the DOS flash folder to your USB flash drive. Just the files, not the folder.
Restart the PC, tap the F10 key to get access to the BIOS setup.
Select the File tab>Flash System ROM menu.
Select the USB flash drive.
The PC should now 'see' the BIOS files on the flash drive.
Follow the on screen instructions to update the BIOS.
I doubt it will make any difference, but I suppose you have nothing to lose by updating the BIOS to the latest version.

Hi!
Thank you!
I found a more recent version 1.61 Rev. A 8 July 2009:
Is that better?
