HP Elitedesk 800 G5 SFF
Linux

Hi, I have an HP Elitedesk 800 G5 SFF and am trying to install additional cooling by fixing two Noctua NF-A4x10 PWM on the case - one to move out the warm air from the CPU, the other one to blow cool air in for the additional GPU (ASRock Sparc with Intel ARC A380). The cooler set comes with a 1:2 distribution adapter cable to install two fans on one connector on the motherboard. Each fan consumes below 0.5 watts, so the CHFAN2 should not be overloaded.

I connected this adapter to the CHFAN2 and had to cut something away from the plug to make it fit to the CHFAN2. But the fans do not move. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

PS: My registration says I have an Elitedesk 705 G5 SFF - which is correct, I own several more HP machines, the Elitedesk 705 G5 SFF and this 800 G5 SFF as well as two Elitedesk 800 mini (G3 and G5) and a new Prodesk 400 G9. I will add these other machines to my profile over time.

To get closure, instead of adding a fan, I exchanged the CPU against an i9-9900t - the t-models have a lower TDP, and the cooling is much easier so that even while encoding a DVD, the fan never goes up to a higher speed. All cool and slow and low in noise.
