Sometime ago I split my harddrive in disk 0 and disk 1, Now I am in need of sending space from one disk to the other.

Disk 1 holds the C: drive with windows on it. What is the best way to procede with this?

@Radink , welcome to the forum.

You can use Disk Management to shrink Disk 0 to give you more space on Disk 1: right click on Start (Window's logo lower left corner) and select Disk Management).  Right click on the partition that you want to reduce and select "Shrink Volume".  This should do it.  You can choose how much you want to shrink the volume.

Follow these steps for Windows 7-

Step1. Open Start menu, Right click on the computer.

  •  Open Manage.
  • Open Disk Management, right-click the partition D and choose Delete Volume.

Step2. The data on volume D will be deleted. Make sure the crucial data on this partition has been backed up for sure.

If the volume to be deleted is in use, it will inform us of that.

Force Delete Volume Warning

  • We can force the deletion of the partition. Yet, forcing a deletion might cause unexpected errors in the application that is using this partition. Please be careful.

The process completes in seconds. When it finishes, we can see space originally belongs to D volume becomes unallocated space and locates very behind C drive.

Make D Volume Unallocated

Step 3.Right-click on C drive and select Extend Volume.

  • Extend Volume Wizard will pop up. Just click Next to continue.

Extend Volume C

Step4. In this window, select the disk(s) from which we want to get free space. Here, both partition C and the deleted D partition is on Disk 0, and Disk 0 is the only disk from which we can take free space. Thus, Disk 0 is automatically selected for us. Specify how much free space we want to add into C drive

Extend Volume Wizard Select Disks

Step5. Click Next. In only a few seconds, we can have our system C drive extended.

Extend Volume C Completed
