How do I turn off the sensor smart keys and/or backlit keys on my HP Wireless Keyboard 970? I don't want my keyboard to light up everytime I use as I'd like to save my battery life. I've checked online but can't find any set-up nstructions or user manual. Thank you

Hi @GMartin3,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
To turn off the sensor smart keys and/or backlit keys on your HP Wireless Keyboard 970, you can try the following steps:
Use the Keyboard Shortcut: Many HP keyboards, including the HP Wireless Keyboard 970, allow you to control the backlighting using a dedicated key or a function key combination:
- Look for a key with a light bulb or a backlight icon, usually on the top row of the keyboard.
- If you find such a key, try pressing it to toggle the backlight off.
- If it doesn’t work directly, you might need to hold down the Fn key (usually located near the bottom-left corner of the keyboard) and then press the backlight key.
Check the HP Accessory Center Software:
- HP sometimes provides dedicated software like the HP Accessory Center for managing keyboard settings, including backlighting. Check if you have this software installed.
- If not, you can download it from the HP Support website.
- Open the HP Accessory Center software and navigate to the settings for your keyboard. Look for an option to control the backlight brightness or to turn it off entirely.
Adjust Power Settings (if available):
- Some keyboards have settings accessible through the Windows Control Panel or through a specific app provided by HP.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Typing, and look for any options related to the keyboard backlighting.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Occasionally, firmware updates can provide additional functionality, including expanded control over keyboard features like backlighting.
- Check for updates through the HP Support website or HP Support Assistant.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it may be worth reaching out to HP phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
