I have a HP wired mouse 100 - Model HSA-A016M
The day I got it, the left click seems to be too fast, as if it gets double clicked.
Over the time the problem got more annoying and from few days the button some times works, some times not.
It's under warranty but when I put the Sr No online for the warranty check, the site says "verify the sr.no." or say it is INCORRECT. When I called the customer support, there is no IVR option for computer peripherals or specifically Mouse. At last I receive as SMS saying to go Online and ask for a call back, but again Online it asks for the Sr No... which is not accepted. Even on this page I'm unable to find any relevant option. So I'm choosing Desktop Hardware & Upgrade Questions just to go ahead.
Now I either open the mouse and replace the button or forget it and buy a new mouse. I don't want to do either of them.
I know HP as a Good Brand famous for its Products & its Support...

Hi @Anish_Verma,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with the left click on your HP Wired Mouse 100, where it seems to register double clicks even though you're only pressing it once. This can be a common issue with mice, and there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem. Here's a structured approach to address this issue:
1. Check for Hardware Issues
**a. Inspect the Mouse:
- Physical Inspection: Examine the mouse for any visible damage or debris around the left-click button. Dust or dirt can sometimes affect the click mechanism.
**b. Test on Another Computer:
- Connect Elsewhere: Plug the mouse into a different computer to see if the issue persists. This helps determine if the problem is with the mouse itself or the computer.
2. Adjust Mouse Settings
**a. Check Mouse Settings in Windows:
- Open Mouse Settings:
- Windows 10/11: Go to Settings > Devices > Mouse.
- Adjust Double-Click Speed: Click on Additional mouse options (or Related settings) and adjust the double-click speed slider. Set it to a slower setting to see if it helps.
**b. Update Mouse Drivers:
- Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Find Mouse: Locate Mice and other pointing devices and right-click on your mouse.
- Update Driver: Select Update driver and choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
3. Clean the Mouse
**a. Clean the Click Mechanism:
- Turn Off: Unplug the mouse from the computer.
- Clean: Use a can of compressed air to blow out any dust or debris around the button. You can also gently clean around the button with a soft, dry cloth.
4. Test the Mouse
**a. Use Mouse Testing Software:
- Online Test: Use online mouse testing tools to check if the mouse is registering multiple clicks. Websites like mouseTester can help identify if the mouse is registering double clicks.
**b. Observe Click Behavior:
- Test Clicks: Click on various items and observe if the issue persists. Check if the double-clicking happens consistently or intermittently.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
