Regarding OS upgrade from W7 to W10 and serial number:
Would like to know the manufacturing date of Z210 CMT Workstation; SN# [edit].
Online info tells me that the first three digit after JPA in serial number refers to Year and Week.
Just like to confirm: Does it mean this PC was manufactured on 6th week of year 2012?
Also how to purchase Windows 10 upgrade for the PC, I mean whom should I contact?
Thank You.

Hi:
The 4th, 5th and 6th characters of the serial number will always be numbers.
The 4th is the year of manufacture, so if the 4th character is a 2, then the PC was manufactured in 2012.
The 5th and 6th is the calendar week of manufacture.
So if 5 & 6 are 06, then the PC was manufactured in the 6th week of 2012 (February).
You may not have to purchase W10. I was able to get the free upgrade this past July.

Thank you Paul,
It was a great help.
I would give the free upgrade a try later.
Noted that HP has a detailed procedure at:
It explains that computers purchased on Aug2 013 and earlier are better candidates for upgrade.
I am thinking to ghost the existing Win7 hard disk first, and run the upgrade on the mirrored one. Just something I need to experiment and learn along the way.
Have a peaceful upcoming week end.

Adam

You're very welcome, Adam.
Yes, that is HP's stance on W10 support, but I would be surprised if W10 didn't work just fine on your PC.
I have a HP dc7800, HP 8000 Elite and a HP 8200 Elite and they all run W10 just fine.
My 8200 Elite was built in 2011 and the dc7800, in 2008.
You have a great weekend too!
Regards,
Paul
