Product: Pavilion p7-1430 Desktop PC
Update 07/29/2019: Short Drive Self-Test passed today after I ran the Drive Wiper in CCleaner on my OS (C:) drive. I selected Free Space Only for the wipe - it keeps your files intact. It did take a good 4-5 hours to complete. Before the Free Space Only drive wipe, I also had the caution warning for C5 Current Pending Sector Count in the program, CrystalDiskInfo 8.2.0. After the scan the raw value went back to 0 and it's all good again. I just have the yellow caution warning for 05 Reallocated Sectors Count. The raw value is currently at 20. I'm planning to do a chkdsk C: /r scan tomorrow to see if it will fix the issue. No harm in trying, right?
Previous Post:
Today I ran a systems test in the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows 1.5.0.0 in Hp Support Assistant, and these are my most recent results:
Short Drive Self-Test Result: FAILED
Recent Failure ID after Dism command used: RGABHF-0009NE-9XPK0K-60XR13
I ran it yesterday too and got a different failure id: Failure ID: RGABHF-0009ND-9XPK0K-60W913
Video Memory Fast Check: Passed
IRQ Test: Passed
ROM Test: Passed
CPU Stress Test: Passed
I ran the Dism command: Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
but it hasn't fixed the problem. What should I try next? 😕
For your information:
The Short Drive Self-Test will do a quick test to determine if your hard drive (hard disk or solid state drive) is functioning properly.
The Video Memory Fast Check will perform a fast check of your system to make sure the video memory is functioning properly.
IRQ test verifies the network controller's IRQ configuration. This test will fail if the IRQ configuration is incorrect.
The ROM Test checks the network controller's on-board ROM by verifying the IEEE MAC address. This test will fail if there is an error in the ROM, which will be indicated by an incorrect MAC address.
The CPU Stress Test performs intensive computations on all available processor cores in your system for a period of time. The test will run for two minutes in a customer environment.

Hi:
Either of those codes mean the hard drive needs to be replaced and the operating system reinstalled.
Below is the service guide for your PC, where you can find the hard drive R & R procedure.

After you replace the hard drive, you can reinstall W10 by making installation media using the media creation tool from the link below.

You're very welcome.
The specs for your PC indicate that it originally came with a 2 TB hard drive.

If you need 2 TB of space, you can replace it with this one, for example.

If you can live with 1 TB of space, you can get one of these for example...it's a little less expensive, but it has a faster rotation speed (7,200 RPM). Will perform slightly better than the 5,400 RPM drive.
