Hi:
The chipset is an integral part of the motherboard, and cannot be upgraded or replaced.
The processor you want to upgrade to requires a discrete video card, as the onboard Intel HD graphics adapter won't work with the 1st gen quad core processors.
The product specs for your PC indicate that it does have a discrete AMD Radeon HD5450 graphics card, which should make the processor upgrade plug and play.

Thank you very much for your help. The swapping out the original Intel 5 for a Intel 7 and the doubling of my RAM makes life sooo much sweeter !!!
I'm replacing my hard drive with a
Toshiba MG03ACA 1 TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive MG03ACA100
since the original one is approaching 10 yrs. of age and it only cost $38. When I checked out the spec. page for my computer it didn't specify what brand my computer came with.
I am also adding another hard drive to install Windows 10 and will work with them SEPARATELY as I do NOT like the "invasive" qualities that it comes with. I'm considering partitioning that one and installing Linux on the other half.
What are your thoughts on that?
Thank you for your helpful answer to my post and thanks in advance for your thoughts on my "follow-up" post.
May you live long and prosper,
Steven
