Slimline 290-p0043w

Hello I have a HP Slimline 290-p0043w which has the G4900 processor.

I am wanting to upgrade and I was looking at the G5400 processor which is one the list as an upgrade option. However I noticed a slightly faster and 1 year newer Pentium Gold G5420 and for only a few dollars more I figured why not.

However it does not show the G5420 on the compatibility list but I notice another HP Slimline 290-p0112d which also has the same motherboard as the p0043w MENLO (Intel H370 chipset) and the p0112d has the G5420 in it.

The G5420 says it is compatible with H370. But I just want to verify if for sure the G5420 will work in my 290-p0043w as the G5420 works in the p0112d.

Thanks.

@Bubbz Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to upgrade the processor.

I have checked the specification of the product.

In the processor upgrade information, it has not mentioned the Intel Pentium Gold G5420.

It will not support it. You can upgrade to G5400 processor.

The processor is not a user-replaceable part.

I would suggest you contact our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Or you can contact local service center for processor replacement.
