and that it is better to replace it
it is sometimes an idea received!
the smart error may have another cause , but actually more rare , information from the Seagate site

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cause:

The system will signal an error when the SMART threshold is reached. The disk tracks the performance of several areas of the disk. These Self-tests can include checking for reading, slow spinning up, high temperature, too many bad sectors as well as many other areas. Details of these thresholds are not available in the product information and they differ between designs and certainly between drive manufacturers.

Solution:

A system SMART error tells you that you should back up your data as soon as possible and maintain regular backups.

A SMART warning about over temperature is common and can sometimes be fixed by improving the ventilation in the system. First check if your system has sufficient ventilation and that all fans are in working order. If you find and correct the ventilation problem, the average temperature will drop to a normal range, then the SMART error should go away.

in the meantime if the user has an external usb hdd disk, this can do the trick

The error message was just coincidental to the video graphics card drivers update.

The diagnostic error message translates to a Hard Disk 2 SMART Hard Drive Detects Imminent Failure.

You do need to replace the hard disk with a new one as soon as possible!

hi

  • 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA
  • 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-14s-dk0000-laptop-pc/25040286/model/32125702/document/c06502...

it seems to be your HDD disk, the problem
so you must be able to continue using the computer
if you have data on the HDD disk, move them to external media
Then you have a few options, but no guarantees, and you'll have to be careful
The drive can permanently fail at any time.
Anyway, you will have to make backups regularly, so it may be better to remove it in the meantime, it's up to you
So it is sometimes possible to make the HDD disk last a little longer
it will be necessary to carry out the complete formatting, so that it is erased completely
then, format the disk, and make it usable by assigning it a letter

there was a method but I don't know if it's still relevant it consisted of a low level formatting
sometimes very useful (and you have to have the utility not always possible depending on the model / brand of HDD)

So it's up to you, the easiest way is to no longer use the HDD, and replace it when possible.
knowing that a hdd is no longer worth much
some 1TB models around $50/60

just for information

That is your only alternative.

When the HDD does fail you will lose all of your data and your operating system.
