Hi, I do not know if this is the right section where posting my problem, however I describe it to you.

Recently some USB  peripherals that first worked without problems have stopped being recognized by my pc and the Windows 10 error code is code 43: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)".

The same peripherals, connected to another computer and with the same USB cable, work perfectly.

I tried to change my pc's USB port, but the error I'm seeing is ever the same in each port, the only solution to fix this problem is to replace the USB cable with another one, though the previous one was working ...

This happened to me with an external USB HDD and an Ipod.

This time, despite changing the usb cable, my system no longer recognizes my Huawei P10 Plus phone, which has always recognized, on the other pc is recognized with no problem with all the cables.

Would you suggest a solution to this problems?

The drivers are all installed and upgraded, it seems almost a problem of incorrect storage of USB devices in windows, but I don not know...

I have tried all the solutions found on the net but none has been successful (the only working solution, at times, is the replacement of the USB cable, which however seems ridiculous, because the old one was well functioning ...).

Thanks for the attention to everyone.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion Elite HPE-521it Desktop PC. I read that the USB ports on the PC are not working and an error code 43 appears. Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Please open the device manager.
  • Expand "Universal serial bus controllers". Right click on the drivers listed in it and select uninstall them.
  • Close the device manager.
  • Restart the PC. The Windows operating system will automatically reinstall the USB drivers while restarting.

If the issue persists then disconnect the USB devices one by one and check upon disconnected which USB device the error goes away. If the issue persists then let us run the hardware test on the USB. The following steps will help:

  • First, update the hardware test UEFI menu: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp80501-81000/sp80721.exe
  • Restart the PC once the update completes.
  • Now please follow the below steps to run the hardware test on the USB:
  • Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  • Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second.

  • The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu is displayed.

  • Select component tests.

List of the Component tests

  • Initiate a test on the USB Port - This test is interactive and requires you to connect an external USB device, like a mouse, keyboard, or USB flash drive when prompted. Before running the test, make sure there are no USB devices connected to the port you want to test. To start the test, click USB Port, click Run once, and then connect a USB device to the port you want to test.

Repeat the steps if you need to test other USB ports on the computer.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Cheers!

Hi,

I followed all your hints but the issue persists, my Huawei P10 Plus won't be recognized.

Could you explain me why sometimes the only solution to fix the problem is to replace the USB cable with another one, though the previous one was working ???

Anyway this is not the case....

Thanks a lot for your help.

You're most welcome! 🙂

Any USB cable that is not faulty should work as per my understanding.

Also, could you let me know what were the results of the USB hardware tests? I'm assuming it passed. If the USB test passes then please create a new administrator account in Windows 10. A new user account should help: http://hp.care/2qNyzzc

Lastly, if the issue persists then please perform a Windows refresh (repair). This should not delete your personal data. The WIndows refresh should fix any corruption in the WIndows operating system and drivers. Though the steps are mentioned for Win8, these steps would work for Win10 too.

Hope this works out. All the best! 🙂

Hi,

the results of the USB hardware tests was ok, test passed.

I have also done a Windows refresh (I installed a new copy of Windows 10 other the old one, keeping my personal data and programs installed), but the issue persist.

I did not tried to create a new account, but I doubt this will solve my issue...

Thanks again for you help.
