Hi @nikhil5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If some keys on your HP Pavilion 14 laptop's built-in keyboard aren't working, you can try the following steps to diagnose and potentially fix the issue.

Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve keyboard issues.

Clean the Keyboard: Dust and debris can cause keys to stop working. Gently clean around the affected keys using compressed air or a soft brush.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Update Drivers: Go to Device Manager, find the keyboard under "Keyboards," right-click it, and select "Update driver."
  • Reinstall Drivers: If updating doesn’t help, you can try uninstalling the keyboard driver and then restarting your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.

Check Keyboard Settings: Ensure that the keyboard settings haven't been altered. You can check this in the Control Panel or Settings.

Perform a System Scan:

  • Use Windows’ built-in troubleshooter for keyboard issues: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Keyboard.
  • Run a full system scan with your antivirus software to ensure there are no malware issues affecting your keyboard.

Check for Physical Damage: If the keyboard has been physically damaged, you may need to have it repaired or replaced.

External Keyboard Test: Connect an external keyboard to your laptop. If the external keyboard works fine, it might indicate a hardware issue with the laptop’s built-in keyboard.

Perform a BIOS/UEFI Update: Sometimes updating the BIOS/UEFI firmware can resolve hardware issues. Check HP’s support website for any updates for your specific model.

Perform a System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a point before the issue began.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
