Sprout by HP Model:23-s010na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone!

I have a Sprout (Model Nr. 23-s010na) with a i7-4790S processor and at the moment runs on 2 pieces of Corsair Vengeance 16GB 1600MZ DD3L memory -it needs SO-DIMM. All works fine.

I wanted to change the processor (if it's possible, just to juice out a tiny bit more of it) and definitely some more RAM. I tried a matching pair of CRUCIAL 16GB 1600MHZ DDR3L (CT204864BF160B), and it won't even start. (the bios beeping straight) I red somewhere, that those don't like HP, so I tried a matching pair of Micron 16GB PC3L-12800S (MT16KTF2G64HZ-1G6A1), which also runs on 1600MHZ. Both doing the same thing, just bios beep, no start. Any idea why? It should work in theory, all my research shows, that This motherboard and processor takes up to 32GB of RAM.

Also I tried to swap the processor for a i7-4790K. Same thing. It does however rew the fan a few times before it kicks in the beeping. Again, I updated the BIOS, it's less than 2 month old by the date of it. In theory, it should support it! I tried all those hardware in a different older chipset, and all was working.

Is there some jumper, or hardware modification needed to make them work? Any idea why doesn't they work?

Thanks for your help.

Levi

@Sprout-Levi , welcome to the forum.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer.  In the section titled "Product description", Pages 1 thru 4, it gives a list of all of the components that have been fully tested to assure that they work with the motherboard.  Any other components will not be guaranteed to work.

You should contact Crucial's Tech Support for help with getting their memory to work.
