I have a 1TB hard drive and need more space. I do not want any external drives, I want to either replace the hard drive with one that has more storage space or get an upgraded SSD. How do I go about doing this? I am not familiar with computer upgrades and don’t want to get jipped by any local computer stores.

The specs of your machine is

               https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05997521

It has

  • 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA  (b)
  • 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD  (a)

You can upgrade BOTH to larger capacity.

For (a): You can upgrade its existing 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD to 1TB or 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD using compatible drive such as :  https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/nvme-ssd/970-evo-plus-nvme-m-2-ssd-1tb-mz-v7s1t0bw/

For (b): You can upgrade 1TB to 2TB or 4TB  2.5" HDD or SSD using compatible drive such as   https://www.ple.com.au/Products/648907/crucial-mx500-sata-iii-25-ssd-4tb

Regards.
