I know mine works with the A6 8500, but the A8 9600 didn't. The documentation says it supports the A6 9500 E. Would the A6 9500 work? There's a lot of conflicting information. My motherboard's BIOS is the most current version.

And yes, the A6-9500 is also compatible.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Please give me your PC's model and SKU number: type in: System Information in your lower Windows search bar, and click on the System Information app, and look to the right of System Model and System SKU, and provide that information.

OK, according to HP's specs and looking at Userbenchmark Users, your HP EliteDesk 705 G3 Desktop Mini can be fitted with up to 2x16GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, Non-ECC, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM sticks, and the best compatible processor is the AMD PRO A12-9800E R7.
Meaning, whilst some EliteDesk 705 G3 SFF/Tower units (not the Mini) may support Ryzen PRO CPUs under specific board revisions and BIOS updates, the Mini does not appear to support Ryzen architecture at all.
So, if you're seeking better CPU performance beyond the A12-9800E can deliver, the better path would be to upgrade to a different form factor or model.

In the video below from HP's channel, they told me that it is not supported.

My bad -you're correct: the A6-9500E (35-watt TDP) is compatible, whereas the 65-watt TDP A6-9500 (without the "E") is not.
