Hi, I just got HP Z420 From my local marketplace and it's not included with RAM and HDD but it's included with Xeon E5 1607 CPU. I've been searching everywhere about what kind of RAM sticks that would work on this mechine, and my conclusion is that Z420 can support both RDIMM and UDIMM, but I'm still not sure about that. I'm planning to buy DDR3 PC3L 12800R Ram sticks from my local online store, would that ram stick work for this mechine? Thanks

Find the product ID on your system and go here
https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer/
and put it in. Then look for motherboard and memory
I am guessing for example https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer/?searchtext=A1S40EC
the above shows 4 motherboards but two are windows as then end in -601
anyway, match your motherboard number against the ones in the parts list to identify the memory you need then look down for the memory section. For example 682412-001 or 682413-001
I recommend you get used ram on ebay that matches the part number. For example
https://www.ebay.com/itm/224440225785
the above is just a guess, be sure to use your product ID. If you get cheaper generic server ram be sure it can be returned and contact the seller first.
