Supported processors HP Compaq dc7800 Small Form Factor PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello! The specification for the HP Compaq dc7800 SFF motherboard indicates that it can be installed with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor http://www.nordykassociates.com/pdf/dc7800%20QuickSpecs.pdf page 9. Question: Can I install an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550s processor or only an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 (no "s"). Can anyone install Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550s or Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 on HP Compaq dc7800 SFF motherboard? Please share your practical experience. Is your computer with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor getting warm? Is Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550s Supported? Yours faithfully, Gennady.

@Gennadiy125 , welcome to the forum.

Here are the specifications for the two processors from Intel:

Q9550:  https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/33924/intel-core-2-quad-processor-q9550-12m-cac...

Q9550s:  https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/40815/intel-core-2-quad-processor-q9550s-12m-ca...

I reviewed the specifications of both processors and the most notable difference is the TDP:  Q9550 is 95W and the Q9550s is 65W.  I would not recommend using the Q9550 in your computer.  It was released a year before the Q9550s.

Thanks for your answer and help! I know the most noticeable difference is the TDP: the Q9550 is 95W and the Q9550s is 65W. This is the question. I currently have an Intel Core2 Duo E8500 dual-core processor with a TDP of 65W. I want to install a Q9550 or Q9550s quad core processor. The Q9550 processor is in the specification for my motherboard, but it has a TDP of 95 W, and the Q9550s processor is not in the specification for my motherboard, but it has a TDP of 65 W, like the processor I have now. I want to learn from practice, can anyone have already installed a Q9550 processor with a TDP of 95 W, how does it behave, does it overheat, does the computer have enough power? The Q9550s processor with a TDP of 65 W should not overheat and is suitable for other parameters, but it is not in the specification for my motherboard. I want to know from practice, who has already installed the Q9550s processor with a TDP of 65 W? I am writing with translation, maybe something is not clear?
