Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you want to swap the hard drives of different sizes on your HP Touchsmartart 520-1070,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you know that the SSD/HDD sits inside a metal bracket and then connects to the PC?

Basically, if you have the SSD that supports the same connectors as the HP Shipped HDD, you don't need any adapters as such, all you have to do is connect the SSD to the bracket replacing the existing HDD and connect it to the TouchSmart, that said, if the bracket doesn't fit, you may want to try this bracket (Example in the image below) available on any local retailer or online store: (Simply google this phrase for online stores- "2.5 SSD for the original 5.25 HDD").

Click here for instructions on replacing your HDD.

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I have ordered a similar bracket so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will work. I am installing a Samsung 850 in place of my original drive. Wish me luck. I have been impressed with the helpfulness on this forum and appreciate all the comments.

Unfortunately the bracket I ordered did not work with the new ssd drive which is a 2.5" drive as opposed to the 5.25" drive that was in the computer. I know this exchange should work if I can just find an appropriate holder or adapter that will fit. I would really appreciate any help from anyone who can help. remember, I'm trying to fit a Samsung 850 ssd in place of a 5.25 hdd, inside of my HP Touchsmart520-1070.

Help please!
