Today I decided to pull an old HP Pavilion Slimline s5510f PC out of a old box filled with electronic junk that has been sitting there since forever. It had a fan disconnected, and was missing the disk drive and front panel. I was able to ductape the fan back into the proper position, and connect the plug back into the motherboard correctly.
My intention was to use it to design things in Sketchup 2017, which I had downloaded on a flash drive. After plugging in an Netgear USB thingy, plugging it into power and a display, it booted up successfully, and I started to download sketchup. However, I was faced with the typical problem of everything wanting updated and virus protection ect. When Sketchup started downloading, it went fairly well, with a couple hitches with the internet. When I went to start it up, it told me this:
"The following errors were found when launching SketchUp:
-Your 'GeForce 6150SE nForce 430/PCI/SSE2' graphics card's OpenGL version is 2.1.
Sketchup requires a graphics card that supports OpenGL 3.0 or better.
Unfortunately, these errors will prevent SketchUp from running. Updating your graphics card drivers might fix the problem.
See this Help Center article for more information."
I do not know whether it wants me to buy a new card, it wants me to update the existing cards software, or it is saying the hardware cannot handle it. If it does need a more powerfull one, I had an idea. I also have a Dell Optiplex 210l, in a similar sort of condition.
I was wondering, can I take the graphics card out of that, and put it into the Slimline?
Also, where is the graphics card in a optiplex anyway? I cant seem to find it.
If I cant use the one from the optiplex on the slimline, what graphics cards can I use?

Welcome to HP Support forums!
I see from your post you need information and assistance related to graphics card for your HP Slimline Desktop PC. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you tried to update the graphics card drivers either from our HP Support website or using HP support Assistant.
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the PC:
Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:
1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.
If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.
2. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.
3. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.
4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to update the graphics card drivers on your PC from our HP Support website, using this link.
Alternatively, you can also try to download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.
Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant. Once done, restart the computer and check if that helps.
Next thing, regarding the upgrade of the graphics card, Here are few things which should help you.
Your PC is shipped with Integrated graphics using nVidia GeForce 6150SE.
Note: Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.
- Integrated graphics using nVidia GeForce 6150SE
- Also supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards*
Please note, if you're upgrading the graphics card on your PC, please check the recommended power supply. As per the information your PC was shipped with 220W power supply (100V-240V)
Here's the Product specification of your PC and Motherboard specification.
If you wish you can try to upgrade the graphics card on your PC, However, HP Doesn't recommend any upgrade/downgrade of any hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product. It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance. You can change the configuration at your own risk.
I hope this answers your question, do let me know if you need any further assistance.
that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,
give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.
