Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A2AV)

I took off the cover on the underside of my laptop to find that one of the battery cells is swollen but the swelling is not that much, it's a small bulge but still noticeable even though its small is it as dangerous as cells with more swelling?

If I take the right precautions that I was supposed to from the start like not overcharging my laptop battery anymore will the battery swelling get worse?
Please, if someone sees this, I would really like some information as to how important this really is and how soon I should take care of this.

Edit: I have taken out the battery but what I noticed is with the way my computer is the fans in it only keep the left side of the computer cool, but the right side is always very hot, and I noticed that the cell that is affected was the very right cell, so I am pretty sure it's the heat that made the cell swell up also when taking out the battery I noticed that the middle cell was also had a very small amount of swelling that was actually very hard to notice but I am pretty sure they started swelling because of the heat when playing some of the games I play I think my computer hits like 70 degrees Celsius but my computer being plugged in way more than it should probably sped up the process so it's probably not just the heat but the heat played a big role because the cell on the very left looked completely fine with no swelling at all the computer I have is the Victus by HP gaming laptop 15-fa0xxx I mention this because there is a little bit of a design flaw because in the very bottom right corner or if you flip it over its the bottom left corner I think there might be enough room for a fan there and with a fan there it could have prevented this from happening and the rate it did by a pretty large amount considering how I have had this computer for almost 2 years and 1 of the cells seems unaffected by a large amount of heat because the fans kept it cool and because it has not had enough power put into the cell. I would like to mention that going through this experience has taught me a lot and that for the next little while I will not be using a battery because I currently cannot afford one and because I do not need one right away for my laptop to work but I will consider getting one for the future so I can actually take my laptop places because in terms of battery its currently as useful as a pc but I doubt I will have this computer much longer because of the design flaw I don't feel safe using this computer for another year so I think I'm just going to save up for a pc and use this laptop when I travel or sell it I actually had plans on seeing if I could upgrade this laptop before finding out about the swollen cells. If anyone was considering buying the same laptop I have or another model of Victus laptop, I think you should go for it because for the last almost 2 years it's been really good but make sure to not have it plugged in 24/7 and then don't have it running for insane amounts of time, I think the longest I have had my computer constantly running in games that take a lot of power to run was maybe 24 hours straight but make sure to check up on the battery like once a month after having it for a year and make sure to clean the fans as well, they can get pretty dusty.

It seems Amazon might be switching parts they show.  Try this

https://www.amazon.com/BOWEIRUI-Replacement-HSTNN-LB7P-HSTNN-UB6W-843537-421/dp/B07VYGQT7B?th=1

Make sure the SD06XL L84392-005 box is highlighted

In that description, it is shown as SD06XL ** Voltage: 11.55V ** Capacity: 70.91Wh 5833mAh which is actually a higher mAh, which will/should last longer.  Amazon has a good return policy and I would trust this one, too.  I actually do not know anything about the hp-battery.com.

Hope that helps.

A swollen battery is an indication of impending failure.  Here is the manual for that modelhttps://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_5957172_en-US-1.pdf

Page 19 indicates the model number for the battery.  Be certain to look at the battery to see which one is installed already then order a new one and replace.

I appreciate the help, but I am trying to find the battery that came with my computer on a trusted website but none of them seem to have it, but I did find a website that says that another model of battery can be used to replace the model of battery that I have, do you know if I can do this without sacrificing safety?

Assuming you did not go further with the link for the manual.  If you look at the HP part numbers listed for that model, there are two numbers listed on page 19.  HP part #M39179-005 is for a 4 cell, 70 Whr, for use in models with GeForce RTX 3050 or 3050 Ti graphics and HP part #L84394-005 is for a 3 cell, 52.5 Whr, for use in models with GeForce GTX 1650 graphics .

You will need to check which part # the old one is to get a compatible replacement.  Then search for that number.

Here is a HP battery from this dealer

https://www.hp-battery.com/hp-m39179-005.html

Note:  "There 2 types battery(WK04XL 15.4V 70.07Wh and WK06XL 11.58 V 83Wh are incompatible), please check your old battery first before placing an order. Tips: you can download the software [ BatteryCare ] to check your battery information, then compare the Capacity and Voltage to our product info."

Here is the other battery

https://www.hp-battery.com/hp-l84394-005.html

I also found a non-HP battery on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/IZKROR-WK04XL-Replacement-16-D0000NC-16-E0002SL/dp/B0BPRZVVJN?th=1

and the other one

https://www.amazon.com/IZKROR-Replacement-15-EK0003na-15-EN0002AX-HSTNN-089U/dp/B09Q2VQKT4?th=1

The interesting info noted from Amazon

I used the link you provided to find the model number for my battery, but I was just curious if you knew of a trusted source for a new battery because I would much rather not get scammed or have my new battery blow up after a couple hours, I do appreciate the help but my battery is the second one you are talking about the 3 cell 52.5 Wh battery but none of the links you have provided sell a 3 cell 52.5 Wh 11.55V 4323mAh battery the only thing that comes close has 11.55V but it's got 70.91Wh and it does not say the mAh. I am curious though, will this battery still work, or do I need one that fit the all the details, and do you trust hp-battery.com?
