HP ENVY Desktop TE01-1175xt
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there. I just have a quick question: can I replace the DVD drive in my TE01-1175xt Envy desktop with a hard drive/SSD? If so, how would I do it?

Thanks.

You may have to get an adapter for the connector as many low profile DVD have a different SATA connector that is once piece data + power.

My $0.02 opinion is to get a USB external drive HDD or SSD..  Unpowered HDD USB3 are up to 5TB the last time I looked.

Bigger than 5tb seem to take more power and have a wall wort or power cable.

[edit] I just looked up your motherboard.  According to the spec you have a "baker:

I found a picture of one on ebay and there are 3 available standard SATA connectors.

All you need is the standard SATA power and data cable to add a hard drive.  You could put 2 hdd and still have your optical drive

Thank you. I will keep the additional SATA ports in mind, though I should probably ask how many of the ports are already taken up by the internal HDD (I have a 256GB SSD and a 2TB HDD installed from the factory).

your 256gb drive is an m.2 that plugs into the space below

that should leave you with an empty SATA connector for another HDD but I think the USB3 external drive is better and can moved to other systems when  you uipgrade.
