I bought the HP530 Keyboard and Mouse, as I thought that the one that originally came with my computer was no longer working. Although the number keys and alphabetic keys produce the right results, the keys to operate sound don't seem to work. Do I need to install a new driver for this keyboard to get them to work, and if so, where do I find it ?|
Thanks

Hi @MrMJames,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
It seems the multimedia (sound) keys on your HP 530 Keyboard are not functioning. Here are some steps to address the issue:
1. Check Compatibility
- Ensure the HP 530 Keyboard is compatible with your operating system (e.g., Windows 11).
2. Enable Function Keys
- Some keyboards have a dedicated Fn Lock key that toggles the function of multimedia keys. If the sound keys require the Fn key, hold Fn and press the sound key to see if it works.
3. Update or Install Drivers
- Drivers may be required for multimedia keys. Here’s how to update or install them:
- Visit the HP Support Website
Go to the HP Drivers and Software page. - Enter your keyboard model (HP 530 Keyboard).
- Download any available drivers or software specific to your keyboard.
- Install the downloaded driver and restart your computer.
- Visit the HP Support Website
4. Check Keyboard Settings in Windows
- Go to Settings > Devices > Keyboard and look for any options related to multimedia keys or custom shortcuts.
5. Test the Keyboard on Another Device
- Connect the keyboard to another computer to determine if the issue persists. If the keys work on another system, the problem may be related to your current computer's settings.
6. Update Your System
- Ensure your system is fully updated. Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!

Hi,
Sorry I have been so long in replying but was busy over Christmas.
I tried your suggestion of trying to update the Keyboard Driver (Made a mistake - it's a HP230 Wireless Mouse and Keyboard Combo not 530), but the update tells me that the driver is up to date. The Device Manager shows an HID Keyboard Device - is that correct despite this is a different keyboard to the previous one ? This keyboard is supposedly compatible with Windows 11.
Any further advice to solve the problem of being able to control sound would be appreciated. The previous keyboard used F1 to F3 to control the sound. The HP230 Keyboard used F6 to F8. Thanks
