I recently purchased this system  and tried to upgrade the memory to 32gb but it would only recognize 16. I was puzzled for awhile but have been working on and using computers since 1968. Yes the first one didn't even have transistors let alone micro chips. Back to the problem after racking my brain for a bit I realized they are using SDRAM (single clocked)not DDR (doubled data rate doubled clocked) Thus if you put a DDR chipset in it will only result in half the chips capability.  Check this site for a more detailed explanation [https://www.microcontrollertips.com/?s=RAM+MEMORY]  .    I have not ordered my additional 16gb card ... anything just make sure they are SDRAM
