Pavilion 23 all in 1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just installed a new hard drive and had more trouble out of it then anything ever. Current problem is after all is done it says its currently upto to date but my concern is the last update that refused to install was the Windows defender. I did a troubleshoot check and that seemed to solved the issue on updating and it now says device is currently upto date after several checks and a couple restarts.

I checked the system information and it shows the TPM could not run/supported/be active on my hardware which came from HP. This is very concerning even though everything is currently up to date it seems as if this leaves a major hole in my security. After reading a few things it seems like this may have to do with the secure boot process the HP techs told me to take, it was firsted left on and the USB auto installed most of Windows 10 pro, then it had a 5 beep error. After which I was instructed to turn it off and legacy support on. When I went in to do so, it was not needed as it was already the way 2 techs said it needed to be.

After a restart the windows began to install exactly where it left off as if nothing happened. Again the system shows up its up to date but given that I had to turn off defender, mess with secure boot Im not sure if this has something to do with the TPM of if it truly is a hardware issue. Im clueless on how to approach this as the only options Ive seen that may help is to completely restart everything that just took me 5 straight days to accomplish.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TPM.jpgW10 def install issue.jpg

ms updates sometimes fail (the internet connection is not a 100% error free conection all of the time),  and will be retried at a later time if the retry is sucessful then there is no issue to be concerned about

since you have not provided a full model number of your system i (or anyone else for that matter) can't comment on your TPM question since a HP model series can have many diffrent sub models in that line

turning off secure boot when replacing a hard drive or video card is a standard procedure since secure boot will do it's job and detect the hardware changes and refuse access to that device because the current (new) hardware key does not match the stored value of the previous hardware.  disabling secure boot allows the system to generate new keys for the new hardware, and once this is done you can renable secure boot.
