I want to upgrade my TPM to v2.0 - in case I decide to upgrade to Windows 11 - and have been looking at the instructions for SP81900.

The manufacturer version of my TPM is shown as 6.43 but the instructions include:

"- For TPM 1.2, check the Manufacturer Version 6.40 or 6.41:
- For version 6.40, use file TPM12_6.40.190.0_to_TPM12_6.43.243.0.BIN
- For version 6.41, include logic that tries one and, if it fails, uses the other of these:
TPM12_6.41.197.0_to_TPM12_6.43.243.0.BIN
or
TPM12_6.41.198.0_to_TPM12_6.43.243.0.BIN"

So, should I use the 6.41 option or is there another SP I should be using?

Thanks in advance for any help

Looks like you already have the latest or approved version: 643

What happened when you ran the TPMConfig64 app?

I enabled 1.2 on my HP 6000 but the 2.0 upgrade is not supported on my system.

Hi BeemerBiker

thanks for the reply. When I check the settings in W10 it still says my TPM is on v1.2 which isn't suitable for W11. As far as I can tell, the 6.43 is a 'manufacturer version' (as shown by command line TPM.MSC) but I can't find what that means in relation to my original query (which, as I mentioned only includes 6.41 and 6.42). I haven't tried running TPMconfig; I was hoping the SP does the job for me!

The service pack simply unzips the data and stores it at c:\swsetup.  In fact it says something like "make a note of where it is put and run the program there"

The program it refers to is either the 64 bit or 32 bit version of the update app.

Make sure that 1.2 is active and enabled and you have "taken control"

Run tpm.msc to verify

[edit]  There is more to it than just running the program.  Since you say you have 6.43 then you need the file

TPM12_6.43.243.0_to_TPM20_7.62.3126.0.BIN

That file is supposed to be copied to a temporary folder along with that executable..  The instructions say only one bin file is supposed to be in the same folder as the upgrade app.

My system is way to old to upgrade.

OK, so I followed the instructions in the TPM Configuration Utility using the 6.43 BIN file and, unfortunately it came back with this

I assume from the error description that your comment "Make sure that 1.2 is active and enabled and you have "taken control", has been complied with? This is what it says when I run TPM.MSC

wowthatstings_0-1635867857646.png

I assume that that means it's active and ready for use but do I have control and if not, what would I need to do to get control? I note there's a 'clear TPM' option but would that give me control.

[edit] if it's any help, this is what the log says
